We Care provides personalized one to one care for people who are living with illness or disabilities. This care takes place in the clients' home; community care.

We Care is the largest independently owned home care service provider in Canada, with over 50 locations across Canada. We Care's services include Nursing, Personal Support, Meal Preparation, Homemaking, Cleaning, Personal Care, Appointment Escort, Companionship, Specialized Infant and Child Care, Respite Care, Palliative Care, Alzheimer Care, and Parkinson Care - and all of this 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!

What is your hiring process?

First, We Care conducts a phone interview. Then, if the applicant has the necessary skills and availability an invitation to a formal interview is extended.

Do I need a resume to apply to your company or can I apply online?

When the applicant comes into the office for an interview they will be required to fill out an application form. A minimum of 2 references is required.

What do you look for in employees?

We Care recruits candidates that have a customer service and/or health care background, reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

A Security Clearance Letter, CPR or First Aid, physically fit, honest, trustworthy and reliable are crucial to being successful in the health care industry.

What type of schooling do I need?

High School in required and preference is given to applicants that are enrolled in or have completed a Personal Care Attendant certificate. On the job training is available for the right individuals.

How much will I get paid?

This amount is based on skill level, education and experience. Determined through interview process.

What kind of skill do I need?

Effective interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to be understood and to understand others, good listening skills, compassion, a high patience level and a sense of humor.

The ability to work with in-direct supervision, able to withstand continuous lifting and transferring activities and the desire to make a difference in the lives of those who are in need.

Entry Level Positions

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER ­ Basic (Entry Level)
Those interested in community care that possesses the qualifications of Companion and/or Homemaker and have little or no experience with personal care of adult clients. A willingness to learn basic hygiene and grooming skills with the intent, through experience and training, to proceed to more complex care. Duties may include stand by assists, medication reminders, meal visits, including meal prep and general homemaking duties, hazard identification etc.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER ­ Level 1
Those with at least 1 year prior experience and training in basic personal care of adults. Also, someone who while employed with We Care had demonstrated increased skill in a safe personal hygiene/grooming care of adult clients by the first performance appraisal period. Positive client feed back had been received and enthusiasm shown for continued advancement in personal care skills. Duties may include bath assists, simple transfers, mobility assistance, dressing/undressing, skin care observation, medication reminders, meal visits, meal prep and general homemaking duties, hazard identification, etc.

Job Specifications:
Excellent communication skills, caring, maturity, and willingness to develop ever-increasing skill in personal care. Intent is to demonstrate competence with increasing complex care through training and education.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER ­ Level 2 Non Certified
Must be able to perform the required competencies as outlined in the Continuing Care Support Workers Competency Booklet. This may include all aspects of personal care & hygiene routines, lifts, transfers, positioning dressing/undressing, skin care, toileting routines, medication reminders, dementis care, palliative care, hazard identification, meal visits, and general home making duties.

Job Specification:
3 years experience providing personal care of adults clients in continuing care centers and/or community care. Knowledge and experience with the required competencies. Excellent communication skills, physical and mental health. Caring, respect and promotion of the optimum level of client's health and function.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER ­ Certified
Graduate of a certificate/diploma program from a recognized educational institution that required a clinical practicum in personal care for completion (E.g.: PCA certificate from Bow Valley College, Career Designs, Chinook College, NAIT.) Duties are the same as the CSW2N.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER ­ Live In Caregiver
Clients who require 24hr Live in Care. Caregivers will provide all levels of personal, psychosocial and domestic care at a level appropriate to each client. Individualized, client-centered training will be provided in accordance to the client's plan of care.

Job Specifications:
Sense of respect for the Client, Client's life history and property, Honesty, patience, compassion and attention to detail. Ability to follow the Client's plan of care which sets out goals and outcomes to meet client's physical, psychosocial, recreational, spiritual and domestic needs. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are a necessity.

Professional Nursing

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE
A member in good standing with the CLPNA (College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta) who holds valid registration for the current year. Pediatric experience in an asset.

REGISTERED NURSE
A member in good standing with the AARN (Alberta Association of Registered Nurses) who holds valid registration for the current year. Palliative
