Quickdraw Animation Society is a not for profit animation production society that acts as a production house and instructional institution. QAS houses a Service Canada founded project for youth with barriers to employment called The Youth Animation Project. The Youth Animation Project, or YAP, hires 16 youth between the ages of 15 and 30 for a four month contract where each participant is taught the basics of animation as well as offered a series of workshops designed to build employable skills and enhance communication. At the end of the project each participant will have created a short animated film to be screened for the public, distributed to film fests, and used by partner organizations for promotion and educational purposes.

What type of positions do you offer?

Full time, 4 month contract.

What is your hiring process?

Any interested party can drop off a résumé and a cover letter (a résumé is not required if unavailable), stating reason for interest in the project, before October 22nd 2007. Interviews will be held from the first week of October to the first week of November.

What do you look for in employees?

Requirements for the program are as follows:

• Must be between the ages of 15 to 30
• Must not be in school full time
• Must not be in receipt of employment insurance
• Must be facing barriers to employment

What type of education/training/equipment do I need?

Experience in filmmaking or animation is not a requirement. Drawing skills are not a requirement. Anyone can apply, regardless of skill level.

How old do I have to be to work for your company?

15 to 30.

How much will I get paid?

Minimum wage plus transportation costs (bus or C-train).
