The Internet is crowded with sites that want to help you find a job, and many of these provide information on how to write a resumé.  Check out some of the links listed below.

Résumania Online
An award-winning interactive resumé workbook. Follow the six steps to writing an effective resumé, complete the workbook sections, and you will be given some "points to consider" to improve your resumé. From the University of Minnesota Employment Career Enrichment Program.

JobSmart helps you choose a resumé format that fits your job history and target position.  Includes a helpful section on the "electronic" or "scannable" resumé.

Cover Letter Big Picture
Another section of the My Future site, this part gives tips and suggestions on creating an effective cover letter.

200 Letters for Job Hunters
One of the few places on the Internet where you can find an entire book online -- and a good one at that! Over 200 different sample cover letters are divided into 20 different sections, such as "Find A Part-Time Job," "Cold Calls," and "Follow Up."

Resumé Databases on the Internet

National Graduate Registry
This Canadian service allows students and recent graduates with a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate to submit their resumé online, to make it available to Canadian employers who will use the registry to look for qualified candidates for their companies.

Electronic Labour Exchange
Not a true resumé database, the ELE allows you to enter a job seeker profile and check if the database contains any employers looking for someone with your skills. You can also choose to save your profile in the database for 30 days for employers to search. This service is provided by Human Resources Development Canada.

The Riley Guide: Résumé Databases on the Internet
The Riley Guide lists over 50 Internet sites where you can post your resumé for employers to check out.  Some of are free, others charge a fee. The handy chart tells you vital information for each site, such as whether the database has a particular focus, who can view your resumé, how long it will be retained, what format it will be presented in, and any other important features.
