Score a $1000 Scholarship!

It's a win-win

Apply for a $1,000 scholarship when you start your job search or make a career plan.

Eligibility Criteria for YEC Scholarships

Must be working on or have completed career planning or job search activities with an Employment Counsellor at The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre.
Must plan to enroll in either an accredited post-secondary institution, apprenticeship, training or upgrading program for a minimum of one semester, within one year of this application.
Must be between the ages of 15-24 years old.
Must not have been a previous winner of the scholarship.
Must not be related to staff at the Youth Employment Centre.

Selection Criteria

All applications will be evaluated by a selection committee appointed by the Youth Employment Centre.

Scholarship recipient will be selected and notified in July.

Recipients will receive one cheque made payable to the educational institution selected for enrollment.

Application deadline is June 30, 2012

Available for 3 weeks this summer?

Jump $tart your summer AND your future!

Jump $tart is a free work preparation program for 15 and 16 year olds looking to develop their employment skills and gain experience. The program involves workshops, guest speakers, workplace tours and a 25-hour work exploration opportunity.

Jump $tart is 3 weeks, with Session one July 9- 27, 2012 and session two August 7-24, 2012. Groups meet at the Youth Employment Centre (YEC), Monday to Friday, 9:00am- 3:30pm.
