Careers for Students at Costco

Did you know Costco offers a Student Retention Program for post secondary students? And that they are opening a new location in Calgary this year? Costco also has a scholarship program for employees as well as a new grad program.

Come to the Youth Employment Centre at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 to learn about student job opportunities at Costco.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Ever wondered what it takes to wear the red serge of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police? Curious about the application process? Youth aged 15-24 are welcome to drop in to the Youth Employment Centre to meet individually with a recruiter from the RCMP on Friday, June 5 from 1-4 p.m.

McDonald's Restaurant

Want to work for an organization that is visited by 2.5 million guests across Canada every single day? McDonald’s will be at the Youth Employment Centre on Friday, June 19th, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Youth ages 15-24 can drop in to meet with a recruiter and apply.

Eligibility Criteria for YEC Scholarships

  • Must be a registered YEC client and working on or have completed career planning or job search activities with an employment counsellor at the Youth Employment Centre.
  • Must plan to enrol in an accredited training, upgrading, apprenticeship or post-secondary program for a minimum of one semester within one year of this application.
  • Must be between the ages of 15-24 years old.
  • Must not have been a previous winner of the scholarship.
  • Must not be related to an employee or be employed at the Youth Employment Centre.

Selection Criteria

All applications will be evaluated by a selection committee appointed by the Youth Employment Centre.

Scholarship recipients will be selected and notified in July.

Recipients will receive one cheque made payable to the educational institution selected for enrolment.

Application deadline is May 31, 2015.

YEC's Aboriginal Youth Connections Group provides Aboriginal youth the opportunity to meet weekly and learn about community, culture and employment. The group is also a great way for participants to meet new friends and create a positive network for continued success.

The Aboriginal Youth Connections Group will meet weekly starting Monday April 27th from 11:30-1:00 pm and a light lunch will be provided
