Hiring Event - EmployMe

Youth 15-24 can drop in to The Youth Employment Centre Thursday, February 18 from 1:30-4 p.m. to learn about the retail and customer service training program offered by EmployMe Calgary. This five month program is for unemployed people who have been out of school for 12 months. Participants complete classroom training, industry certificates and a work experience placement. EmployMe has a session starting in March 2016, so this would be the perfect time to find out if this program is right for you. For more information contact Leita. Career Café

Come to the Central Branch of The Calgary Public Library from noon to 1 p.m. on February 26 to learn about careers in the insurance industry. There are many different areas in this growing industry to explore. Find out about the opportunities available, education required, and the personal attributes suited to a career in insurance.

Career Café is presented by The Career Development Association of Alberta, The Calgary Public Library and The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre. Career Cafés will take place at the Central branch of The Library and will cover a variety of career development topics and labour market information throughout the year. Discovering Your Opportunities

Discovering Your Opportunities, a four week summer employment and life skills program for pregnant or parenting moms ages 15-19, runs from July 4-29, 2016. This program is a great opportunity for youth to achieve high school credits, earn some money, and gain valuable work experiences. Classroom topics include career planning, employer expectations, workplace safety, job search strategies, and some fun activities. With a focus on the work experience placement, participants are matched with a business and will work at that business part-time for the duration of the program.

Discovering Your Opportunities is supported through a partnership between The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre, Calgary Board of Education Louise Dean Centre, Catholic Family Service and local employers. For more information contact 403-268-2406.


Jump $tart is a free program for high school students interested in developing their employment skills.

Jump $tart involves active learning workshops and guest speakers to improve employment readiness and build confidence for job search and the workplace.

Please join us on Thursdays from 4-6pm, February 18- April 16, 2016 at the Village Square Library (2623 56th Street NE). Registration is required.

Jump $tart is being offered by the City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre. The Youth Employment Centre (YEC) provides career and employment services to Calgary youth ages 15 to 24. All YEC resources and services offered to youth are free.
