Project Protégé | Jump $tart
The Kal Tire is hiring for the busy fall season. Youth aged 18-24 can bring their resume and be interviewed on the spot. Candidates must have completed high school, possess a class 5 driver's license, and be prepared for heavy lifting. 1 - 4 p.m. on Friday October 9th, 2015 at the Youth Employment Centre.
Canadian Armed Forces - Naval Reserves
Youth ages 15-24 are invited to drop in and talk to a recruiter about working for the Canadian Armed Forces - Naval Reserves. Learn about the opportunities, educational benefits and application process. Recruiters will be here from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, at the Youth Employment Centre. Check the YEC Job Board for available positions.
YEC's Aboriginal Youth Connections Group provides Aboriginal youth the opportunity to meet weekly and learn about community, culture and employment. The group is also a great way for participants to meet new friends and create a positive network for continued success.
The Aboriginal Youth Connections Group will meet weekly starting Monday September 21st from 11:30-1:00 pm and a light lunch will be provided
Project Protégé - Mentorship Program
Wondering what your next step will be after graduation?
Are you currently enrolled in social work, human services or recreation at the University of Calgary, Rocky Mountain College, or Mount Royal University?
Consider applying for The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre's Mentorship Program! As a participant, you will have the opportunity to interact with and utilize the expertise of a City of Calgary mentor who works in your field, make contacts, and gain hands-on experience and information for your potential occupation or field of interest.
We are currently recruiting participants for the 2015/16 Mentorship Program. If you are under the age of 25 and are enrolled in Social Work, Human Services, or Recreation, this may be a good fit for you! Participants will be required to attend mandatory training sessions on Saturday, October 17th, 2015 from 9:00-1:00pm and Saturday, January 16th, 2016 from 9:00-1:00pm. Additionally, participants will be asked to attend a Kick-Off event, monthly Mentor and YEC Employment Advisor meetings, and Employment Preparation Workshops.
The deadline for applications is September 30, 2015. Please note that only those individuals selected for an interview will be contacted.

Jump $tart is a free program for high school students interested in developing their employment skills.
Jump $tart involves active learning workshops and guest speakers to improve employment readiness and build confidence for job search and the workplace.
Please join us on Thursdays from 4-6pm, October 1- November 26, 2015 at the Village Square Library (2623 56th Street NE). Registration is required.

Jump $tart is being offered by the City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre. The Youth Employment Centre (YEC) provides career and employment services to Calgary youth ages 15 to 24. All YEC resources and services offered to youth are free.
