A paid career-related international work experience program that furthers the objectives of Canada's foreign policy.

- Working Holiday Programs: Travel to one of the program countries and have the option to engage in short-term work to supplement your travel expenses.
- Student Work Abroad Program (SWAP): SWAP is a program sponsored by the Canadian Federation of Students and administered by the Federation's travel company, Travel Cuts. Through this program, Canadian university and college students can work and travel in other countries. SWAP operates working holiday programs in Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Jamaica, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States.
- Young Workers' Exchange Programs: This program allows Canadian participants to gain professional work experience through overseas training. Participants have the opportunity to acquire new skills while gaining a better appreciation of the culture and values of their host country.

Canadian Centre for Minority Affairs
The program is aimed at providing young Canadians with first paid career-related opportunities in an international environment. This program is operated in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), private, public and non-governmental organizations in Canada and the Eastern Caribbean.

Youth Internship Canada (YIC) Ages 15-30
The three programs are, Youth International, Individual Youth Internship Canada and Youth Entrepreneurship. Projects encourage active partnership between the private and voluntary sectors and other levels of government, to work together in creating employment opportunities for young Canadians.
Federal Public Sector Youth Internship Program Ages 15-30
Sponsored by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and delivered in partnership with the YMCA, the Federal Public Sector Youth Internship Program places interns in host federal government Departments, Agencies and Crown Corporations for 9 month terms. Its main objective is to enable unemployed or under-employed young Canadians to acquire the experience and skills they need to enter and fully participate in the labour market.
Science Horizon Youth Internship Program (Environment Canada)
A collaborative effort with Canadian universities, the private sector and provinces and territories that offers promising young scientists and post-secondary graduates hands-on experience working on environmental projects under the mentorship and coaching of experienced scientists and program managers.
CANADEM (Canadian Resource Bank for Democracy and Human Rights)
Internship assignments promote human rights, gender equality, the building and consolidation of democratic institutions, environmental sustainability, health, education and the creation of societies that are more peaceful, open, and economically strong. Junior Professional Consultants work in a diverse and multi-cultural environment, and provide assistance to humanitarian efforts that address the needs of low-income people, refugees and displaced persons living in post-conflict zones and transition economies.

The International Traineeship Exchange Program (ITEP)'s objective is to promote cultural understanding through international work exchanges. As a university student or recent graduate, a traineeship of 8 to 78 weeks in one of 84 countries around the world allows you to develop a broader understanding of cultural, economic, business, and world issues.
Cultural Envoy for Exchange Development (CEED) is a two-month exchange opportunity open to experienced members of AIESEC Canada. Each year, the CEED program sends these members to targeted developing countries where they help emerging AIESEC chapters to improve the quantity and quality of their exchanges.

The Youth Internship Program (YIP) will provide financial support to cultural organizations and businesses to enable them to hire young interns for a period of six months to help them develop skills which will enhance their job opportunities in new technology and in export marketing, and to help cultural organizations and businesses provide on-the-job learning experience for future cultural workers.

The Katimavik program is based on the concept of service learning - learning through volunteer work on community projects to which participants make a significant contribution.
